Full feature list
  • Rider booking in 3 taps: The map opens on the rider's location, they tap “Where to?”, pick a place and see fixed prices for Go, Comfort and XL upfront, then tap Book. Name and number are asked once; house number is optional. Repeat bookings take 3 taps.
  • Mitchells Plain pickups only: Pickups outside Mitchells Plain are blocked on the page and by the server. Drop-off (and 1 stop) can be anywhere.
  • Meet your driver + live tracking: Driver photo, car and plate, ETA, and the trip on a live map. A 4-digit start code makes sure the rider gets in the right car.
  • 🆘 SOS + share my trip: Red SOS button during the trip: call 10111 or 112, or share the trip on WhatsApp with a live map link (no phone numbers shown). SOS shows as a red alert on the admin board.
  • Cancel / no-show fee: Free to cancel before a driver accepts and for 2 minutes after. Later cancels and no-shows (after the driver waits 5 min) add a fee to the rider's next trip. Fee and wait time set by Denzil in Settings.
  • Tipping: Riders tip R10, R20 or R50 after the trip, 100% to the driver.
  • Driver sign-up: New drivers apply on their own link with car details and document photos (ID, licence, PrDP, licence disc, car). Denzil approves them on the admin board.
  • Driver app: Own PIN, go online, sound + phone alert for new rides, “You earn R__” shown before accepting, no acceptance-rate penalty, today's earnings and tips, goal ring and badges, fuel + car care reminders and the Driver Academy.
  • Admin board + live tracker: Every booking and driver on one screen and a map. Approve applications, add or remove drivers, change fares and settings, see SOS alerts, export bookings.
  • 📊 Usage stats: Visits, devices, searches, prices seen, bookings, completed and cancelled, driver logins, booking funnel and busy areas. No personal details tracked.
  • Dispatch to WhatsApp: App drivers get the first chance. If no driver accepts in 3 minutes, the rider gets a “📲 WhatsApp dispatch now” button with all details filled in.
  • Email alerts: Every new booking (and every “no driver yet” after 3 minutes) is emailed to the dispatch inbox.
  • Fares: Denzil's own fixed price table: R40 inside the same area, set prices between Mitchells Plain areas (peak, off-peak and after hours) and a fixed price list to places outside. XL is the trip price + R30. Every price can be changed on the admin board.
  • Works like an app: Riders and drivers tap “Add to Home screen”. No app store, no download, light on data.
  • Directory link: “Need a ride? GYT” button on the Mitchells Plain pages of the Cape Flats Local directory.

If GYT ever moves to another host or his own developer, he gets GYT as a “business in a box”, so his developer can run it without starting from zero.

Sourced check: SA quotes for an “advanced” app such as a taxi app run R240,000–R352,000 and take 4–7 months (source). Even a quick proof-of-concept is R90,000–R150,000 for 120–200 hours (source). The exit package costs about a quarter of a rebuild, and his developer can start in hours instead of months. Terms in a short written agreement.

⚖️ Licence note

Paid passenger transport (e-hailing) generally needs an operating licence from the Western Cape transport regulator and a PrDP for each driver. Unverified: check the current rules with the regulator. Drivers on GYT are independent.
